Most of the good data feeds are subscription-based, yeah. You pay monthly to keep getting fresh historical data. The one-time data packages are more for specific historical chunks.

Nah, it usually comes with some basic data to get you started. But for more extensive stuff, especially ticks and all that, you'll probably want one of their data feed subscriptions.

yeah, like the free trial gives you enough to test it out. but if you're serious about backtesting and want good quality, then a data feed is pretty essential. i got the standard one and it's been solid.

Is Forex Tester 6 better than TradingView for backtesting? I mostly use TradingView for charts and stuff but their replay feature is kinda limited.

For actual in-depth backtesting, Forex Tester blows TradingView out of the water. TradingView is great for charting, but FT is built specifically for strategy testing.

Totally different beasts. TradingView is for general charting and a bit of replay. Forex Tester is a full-blown simulator with way more control, customization, and data options for serious backtesting. If you're serious about testing strategies, FT is the way to go.

How accurate is the historical data provided with Forex Tester? Does it include tick data?

Their historical data is usually pretty good, especially with the paid data feeds. You can get tick data, but that's usually part of the higher-tier subscriptions like VIP.

The accuracy is solid, especially for the higher data plans. The free stuff is okay, but for really precise backtesting, you'll want the premium feeds which include tick data. It's much more realistic.
